This book paraphrases two lines from the song Wichita Lineman written by Jimmy Webb.
I need more than want you
I want you for all time
These two lines have a curious eliptical emotional interdependence. Webb plays a game with words and the listeners expectations.
In the book the words are rearranged into all possible permutations, most of which are grammatically incorrect but nonetheless may be seen to contain meaning. A dialogue between the two lines continues as they fall in and out of sense through 720 different arrangements until the end where they are fully reversed.
